Right from my first phone call enquiring about 18 Clerkenwell Green’s wedding offer, I felt Hannah’s warmth and excitement about what our day could look. As two men getting married, one English and one Spanish, we felt both excited and a bit daunted by the chance we had to plan a day that was very ‘us’ – with our choice of traditions from both cultures. Hannah completely got this vibe, and helped us in translating this vision into practice. Practically, this meant lots of conversations about which parts of the building we’d use for whichpart of the day, what furniture we’d want where, what our ideal menu would be, what budget we had available, what guests would like to have behind the bar etc etc. This couldn’t be further from our experience of talking to other wedding venues, where the only choice offered to us was ‘would you like package A, B or C’? Our wedding day at Clerkenwell Green exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate to have a lovely, sunny, autumnal day. The penthouses looked absolutely fantastic, bathed in natural light, with guests enjoying the balconies to take photos and take in the London views. Hannah and the team MC-ed all of the getting our 80 guests into the right space at the right time beautifully, coped very well with unscripted speeches being made and delaying us eating, spontaneous singing of folk songs by some of our guests meaning tables couldn’t be cleared etc. No glass was ever left empty and food service was exactly the right blend of professional and discreet yet warm and friendly. Food was absolutely delicious, met the needs of some challenging dietary requirements and gained several ‘that was the best wedding food I’ve ever eaten’ reviews. Hannah’s suggestion of sharing plates for starters and desserts also really helped our guests to interact across the language barrier that we had on a few of our tables, and contributed to the informal, homely feel we hoped for. We dropped into the venue several times through the planning process. These visits made the stresses of planning a wedding day genuinely enjoyable and quite refreshing, as it felt more like catching up with genuine friends than an event planning meeting. We always found the team to be incredibly interested and invested in helping us to plan a brilliant celebration, and that’s exactly what wallacespace delivered for us. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Clerkenwell Green for your wedding day.
